Oxford Ladies Golf Club - Home

The LGU records the founding of the Oxford Ladies Golf Club as 1901, and in its first years it was known as 'Cowley Ladies'. In 1912 OLGC came into being and was based at Southfield Park - later to become the links of Southfield Golf Club.

The ladies have an approximate membership of 90 and in 1999 history was made when two lady directors joined the main board of Southfield Golf Club. Thursday is the main competition day and Saturday the alternative competition day. OLGC is unique in that, around 1963, Club Suppers began to be held on the first Thursday of each month. These have continued and become an occasion to introduce and welcome new members, arrange games, announce competition winners and match results etc. but, best of all, to keep members in touch throughout the year.

The Ladies Open is a well attended day and attracts players from many other counties. Many cups and trophies are keenly competed for throughout the golfing calendar and Oxford Ladies are keen supporters of many charities.

The social side is not neglected and the ladies organise many events, including skittles evenings, barbeques, and the famous theme evenings.

OLGC is known as a particularly friendly club and is happy to welcome new members and visitors to the Southfield course.
